It is the story of Tony, a worker at a cheese factory who also a petty thief. He proceeds to robbery after robbery until he meets Doris, his next door neighbor. Slowly, he falls in love with her and must decide whether he will stay a thief or start a new life with Doris.

A well-done, low-budget feature, the first from director Harold Becker. The film is an offbeat romance starring Rouse as a clever young thief who meets and subsequently falls in love with Tennant, the beautiful daughter of a rich rag dealer. Outstanding performances by the principals, coupled with an insightful, literate script, make for compelling viewing.
